Joan Alyce Goodwin, age 91, of 1810 E. Division St., Mt Vernon, Washington, formerly of South Salem, NY, died after a brief illness surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. Joan was born December 27th, 1925 in Chicago, IL. The daughter of the late Ralph Sullivan and Ada Collins, and beloved spouse of the late Francis J Goodwin III. She is survived by her three sons, Jay Goodwin, DC, Stanwood, WA., Hugh (Kelle) Goodwin, Coral Springs, Fl., and Regis (Patrizia) Goodwin, Somers, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Zack Goodwin, Bellingham, WA, Casey Goodwin, Mt. Vernon, WA, and Sophie Goodwin, NYC, NY. Joan was a graduate of Loyola Woman's Academy and attended De Paul University. She was a pioneering Stewardess (in the first group to work as stewardesses) with Pan American Airways, and finished her career with Pan American Airways in their Travel Agency Sales Department in New York City. She remained active, until the age of 87, as an administrative assistant and school hall monitor with the Town of Lewisboro, NY. Public School System. She was an avid reader, and a citizen activist. Joan was an exceptionally bright, intelligent and witty woman with a unique sense of humor. A celebration of Joan's life will be taking place later this summer in the Mt. Vernon, Washington area. Family and friends may register their remembrances, with Kern Funeral Home, memorial registry, 1122 S. 3rd. Street, Mount Vernon, WA.
