   Helena Ruth Kuiper passed away on August 2, 2017 at Skagit Valley Hospital. She is now home in heaven with her loving Savior. Helena was born in Waupun, WI on August 23, 1926 to Ray and Hattie Greenfield. She grew up on a farm and attended school nearby. She married Arthur Kuiper in 1947 and they started life on a dairy farm near Racine, WI, later moving back to Helena’s home town. In 1997 they made their home in Mount Vernon. They celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to Art’s passing.

   Helena was a beloved wife and mother of six children, who loved her family abundantly. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her gracious hospitality and wonderful cooking. She loved the Lord with her whole heart and was actively involved in the Christian Reformed Church each place she lived. Christian Education was important to her throughout her life.

   Helena is survived by her children and grandchildren: Jerry and Barbara Van Vliet of Mount Vernon, Mike Van Vliet, Kristin (Chad) Pater, Jocelyn Van Vliet, Ryan Van Vliet; Mike and Bev Mulder of Prinsburg, MN, Cara (Webb) Friedly, Janey (Trevor) Duininck, Lisa Mulder, Kevin Mulder; Hank and Jeanne Annema of Sedro-Woolley, Tim (Beth) Annema, Bethany (Nick) Van Dam, Marilee (Jim) Boze, Steven Annema; Art and Robyn Kuiper of O’Fallon, MO, Grace Kuiper and Addie Kuiper; twenty-one great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold and Wayne; and numerous nephews and nieces. Helena was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Kuiper; her infant son, Frank; and her daughter, Donna; her sister, Gladys; and four brothers, Clarence, Rueben, Donald and Robert.

   An informal Memorial for Helena will be held on Tuesday, August 8th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the South Lobby at Creekside Continuing Care Center, 400 Gilkey Road, in Burlington. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at Graceland Cemetery in Racine, WI with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 am at the Racine Christian Reformed Church with a luncheon to follow. Memorials may be given to Mount Vernon Christian School, 820 Blackburn Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273, or to a Christian School in your community.
