Luther Eugene Laviolette, of Mount Vernon, WA, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the age of 63. Luther was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 23, 1954, to Ernest and Marilyn (Daniels) Laviolette. He graduated from Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School in 1972. After graduating from high school, Luther joined the USMC and served for 21 years reaching the rank of GySgt. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan he met and married his wife, Hiroko. After retiring from the USMC, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in History from Western Washington University. His hobbies included hunting, diving, and flying. He coached football in the military as well as youth soccer. Luther is survived by his wife, Hiroko Laviolette; his sons, David and Chris Laviolette; his brothers, Tony (Shari) Laviolette and Jim Blankenship; his sister-in-law, Kazuko Mitchell; and mother, Marilyn Laviolette. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Laviolette; his brother, Gregory Laviolette; his sister, Cynthia (Laviolette) Ewersen; and his nephew, Makoto Mitchell. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 9:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association.
